About me and my practice
My name is Ross McLeod and I am a therapist working between two of Scotlands biggest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh. My passion for therapy was inspired by my own personal journey through addiction and into a life of recovery, a life which I lead today. It is fundamentally this journey which motivates me to help other people who find themselves suffering with addiction and its wide range of related problems. I have experience working with substance based addictions including drugs and alcohol, along with behavioural addictions, or process addictions, such as gambling, eating and sex.
As part of my current role, I am responsible for facilitating group therapy for those struggling with behavioural addictions, specifically gambling. My practice is primarily person-centred in nature, however I have experience working with CBT, Motivational Interviewing, NLP & Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Working with people I find no one size fits all and with that I mind, I work with each individual to establish a safe and beneficial therapeutic alliance with a view to promoting healing and a life free from active addiction. Alongside addiction work I have experience working with specific issues such as anxiety and depression, stress, childhood trauma, grief & loss, behavioural issues such as anger & aggression, co-dependency and shame & guilt. A fundamental part of moving beyond a life in addiction is restoring relations with family members and loved ones, to do so I offer family therapy in a safe environment. Please feel free to get in touch should you have any questions or wish to explore working together.
Outline of offer
I work with individuals, groups, family members and couples either online or in-person.
