Psychotherapist and counsellor
About me and my practice
Currently working in full-time private practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor specialising in the field of addiction including substance misuse, alcohol, compulsive lying, codependency, affairs and betrayals, internet, gambling and gaming. Help for anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, paranoia, depression and feeling sad, manic depression, redundancy, furlough, work-related stress, bereavement, trauma, PTSD, OCD, phobias, anger management, debt management, personality disorders, eating disorders, physical and sexual abuse and self-esteem. Also offering couple counselling and adult-child to parent relationships caught up together in a cycle of emotional abuse.
Outline of offer
The starting point for the process is a one hour Assessment Appointment. Assessment is not clinical in the same way as attending a GP or hospital, neither is it interrogative, intrusive or unnecessarily invasive. Instead, we create a space to understand your history leading up to choosing to seek help and decide how best we might work together going forwards. We will cover confidentiality and you will receive a clear overview of the options available. If we choose to continue, review takes place approximately every six weeks. Individual sessions both face-to-face and online begin at £60 per hour, couples at £85 per hour.
Experience
My background is in Frontline drug and alcohol services. Additionally, I am a former University Lecturer in Forensic Psychology and Counselling, Course Lead on a BACP Accredited Gold Standard Counselling Diploma (Stage 4), Clinical Lead, Team leader, Group Facilitator, MARAC Lead, Trainer, Developer and Lead on Structured Day care programmes creating and facilitating Substance Misuse and Alcohol Recovery Service Programmes. Prior to that, working at an Outpatient Department for the NHS Department of Psychotherapy & Art Psychotherapy. Training clinical staff in therapeutic relationship, group dynamics and facilitation. Additionally, I am a clinical supervisor, CPD trainer and Workshop Facilitator.
