Integrative Counsellor

About me and my practice

I work in private practice as an Integrative Counsellor. My area of special interest in helping those with alcohol related problems or dependence. I also offer counselling for a range of other mental health problems, including anxiety, low self esteem, and psychological abuse.

Experience

I have worked as a nurse and Health Visitor for several years, and later in the prison service as a nurse in the Drug Treatment Service. I also worked as an Alcohol Liaison Clinical Nurse Specialist in a General Hospital, based in the Emergency Department. I periodically gave lectures to nursing students on the psychological and physical effects of alcohol misuse, and continue to offer brief introductory presentations in a range of more common mental health problems. Latterly, I was employed as an integrative counsellor for an Employee Assistance Provider providing a range of counselling services.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling
  • General Nurse Diploma in Health Visiting
  • BSc in Professional Development (studied Clinical and Pastoral Counselling Skills) Post-graduate module in CBT.
  • Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Parts 1 and 2
  • Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse in 2011
  • I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS)
