About me and my practice
I have over 20 years experience of counselling, teaching counselling and examining counselling courses at national level. I work mainly from a solution focussed approach where we work together to co-construct a solution to the difficulties that have brought you into counselling. Solution-focused approaches are often a brief form of therapy because they are based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. The emphasis is on present problems rather than past causes. The method avoids diagnosing and labelling problems but concentrates instead on current resources (your strengths and competencies) and future hopes. In terms of your difficulties it is more about where you want to go rather than where you have come from.
