Face to face and online therapy to elders, adults, teens and couples

About me and my practice

I believe that as human beings we seek safety, comfort and pleasure, and with this in mind, I aim to create a safe space in the therapy room, by building a therapeutic relationship with the client in the present, being with the client in their discomfort or confusion and exploring with them, experiences on an emotional level which helps them to find meaning in their world. I work existentially, however, I do draw from a number of disciplines to creatively attend to the presenting needs of the clients, helping them to find meaning and purpose in their lives and their relationships. I have had long careers in mental health, substance misuse and nursing which have equipped me with greater insight into the human condition. My interests are trauma, chronic illnesses, abuse, challenging behaviours, gender issues, relationships, anxiety, depression, addictions and work related issues. I have been trained as an integrative addictions psychologist with dual membership with the BACP and FDAP, and bound by and work within, the ethical framework of both organisations. I work on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling the client to enhance their life and to live it more fully.
