Therapist/Counsellor

About me and my practice

I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a focus on Counselling Therapies, and I have dedicated my career to working as an addiction therapist. My academic background has equipped me with a solid foundation in understanding human behaviour and the complexities of addiction, allowing me to offer empathetic and effective support to those in need. In my practice, I focus on delivering compassionate, evidence-based therapy tailored to each individual’s unique challenges. I utilise a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioural therapy approaches, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based strategies, to help clients understand and overcome the underlying issues driving their addiction. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel empowered to take control of their recovery journey and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Outline of offer

I provide individualised and group therapy sessions, carefully tailored to the unique needs of my clients. I employ a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy, to ensure maximum effectiveness in supporting recovery. I am committed to staying updated on the latest research and trends in addiction treatment and actively engage in professional development through workshops, seminars, and certifications.

Experience

I started working as an addiction therapist for UKAT in December, and I provide both one-to-one and group counselling to clients facing a range of substance use challenges. In my role, I conduct individual therapy sessions that incorporate evidence-based practices, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy approaches and motivational interviewing, and I also develop bespoke care plans and perform thorough risk assessments to ensure that each client's needs are met in a safe and effective manner. Additionally, I lead support groups and educational workshops to encourage community engagement and mutual support among individuals in recovery, while creating and implementing tailored treatment plans that are regularly reviewed and adjusted in line with each client's progress. I work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals and community organisations, to deliver comprehensive and holistic care, and I am actively involved in community outreach programmes designed to raise awareness about addiction and promote preventative strategies. This blend of direct clinical experience, detailed care planning, and collaborative work has provided me with a well-rounded perspective on addiction treatment and recovery.
