I aim to offer practitioner led 1:1 and online facilitator led peer group sessions, which use a combination of motivational interviewing and CBT-based techniques to facilitate health behaviour change for the purpose of harm reduction of non-opiate substances. The primary focus of sessions is to reduce harm from specifically non-opiate drugs and alcohol e.g. cannabis, cocaine, ketamine and alcohol, using a goal-oriented approach.
Outline of offer
Health behaviour change from a harm reduction approach can result in sustained changes to; dosage, frequency, changes to the context and associated behaviours. The purpose of this approach is to facilitate some change in any or all of these areas, for the overall goal of reducing harm from problem substances for health and social well-being through individual and group based interventions.
Format:
Telephone appointments and intermediary text service between appointments (1:1 sessions).
Group sessions to be delivered online in a secure encrypted environment, ideally a closed group for 6 weeks before rolling over into a new group.
Frequency:
Six - Twelve sessions for 1:1 depending on need and recipients financial circumstances.
Group sessions (weekly open group, drop-in format registration necessary).
Target group:
Persons aged 18-35 years employed or regularly participating in the creative music industries including other artists, who regularly use the aforementioned substances.
Time:
50 minutes (1:1)
60 minutes (group)
Experience
Experienced psychosocial practitioner, group facilitator and teacher. Due to become a trainee health psychologist from 2025.
