Psychodynamic CounsellingAbout me and my practice
I support adults and young people struggling with addiction by exploring the deeper emotional and psychological roots beneath addictive behaviours. Addiction is often a coping response to overwhelming pain, trauma, or unmet needs, not simply a lack of willpower. My counselling approach helps you build self-awareness, understand your triggers, and develop healthier ways to manage stress and emotions. I also work with families, supporting loved ones to set boundaries and foster recovery without enabling harmful patterns. Additionally, I offer Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), a powerful approach that helps process and integrate traumatic memories—often a key factor underlying addictive behaviours. Together, we create a compassionate, safe space to move beyond addiction towards renewed hope and wellbeing.Outline of offer
I offer weekly, one-to-one counselling for adults and young people, either online or in person. Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place in a quiet, confidential setting. Alongside ongoing therapy, I also offer Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)—a short-term, trauma-focused approach that helps process fragmented memories and build a coherent life narrative.Experience
I bring over 20 years of experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including substance use and compulsive behaviours. My background spans residential recovery, therapeutic communities, and psychodynamic counselling with adults and young people. I’ve worked in both one-to-one and group settings, offering emotional support, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed care. The main objective of the Practitioner Directory is to protect the public and help them find practitioners they can trust.
