Addiction recovery practitioner

About me and my practice

I provide person-centred, trauma-informed Addiction and Behavioural Health Support for adults experiencing substance use disorders, behavioural addictions and related mental health difficulties. My practice focuses on helping clients understand the underlying factors contributing to addictive behaviours while supporting sustainable recovery through evidence-based behavioural change. I work collaboratively with each individual to develop practical coping strategies, strengthen motivation, improve emotional wellbeing and build long-term recovery. My approach integrates motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, goal setting and accountability, while recognising the importance of autonomy, dignity and compassionate, non-judgemental support. I practise within clear professional boundaries, maintain confidentiality, engage in continuing professional development, and work ethically in accordance with recognised professional standards.

Outline of offer

I offer one-to-one Addiction and Behavioural Health Support delivered online and in person. My service supports individuals affected by alcohol and drug dependence, behavioural addictions, relapse prevention, recovery planning, emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma and neurodiversity-related challenges. Support includes comprehensive assessment, collaborative goal setting, recovery planning, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, accountability, practical coping strategies and ongoing review of progress. Where appropriate, I work alongside healthcare professionals, treatment providers and other support services to ensure clients receive appropriate multidisciplinary care, including signposting and referral when specialist intervention is required.

Experience

I have over seven years' experience supporting adults and young people affected by addiction, behavioural health difficulties and complex psychosocial needs. My work has included supporting individuals experiencing substance misuse, behavioural addictions, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, autism and co-occurring mental health challenges. I have worked both locally and internationally, supporting clients throughout every stage of their recovery journey. This has included helping individuals transition into and out of residential rehabilitation, providing both short-term and long-term live-in recovery coaching, and delivering regular one-to-one coaching sessions in person and online. Throughout my career I have worked with individuals at different stages of change, helping clients increase motivation, engage with treatment, reduce harmful behaviours and maintain long-term recovery. I have experience collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals, including treatment providers, healthcare services, housing organisations and family members to promote positive outcomes. Alongside my practical experience, I am committed to ongoing professional development and am currently undertaking CPCAB Level 3 Counselling Studies, building on my existing counselling skills training and applying these ethically within my coaching practice.
