1-to-1 addiction and homeless support
About me and my practice
My practice is built around meeting people where they are — often literally, on the street, at the point of crisis rather than in a consulting room. I take a trauma-informed approach, understanding that addiction rarely exists in isolation from homelessness, loss, or unresolved trauma, and I try to build trust before anything else. I believe in practical, immediate support alongside longer-term therapeutic engagement — whether that's responding to an overdose risk, sitting with someone through a difficult moment, or gently opening the door to treatment when they're ready, not when a service dictates. Language and cultural understanding matter to me too; being able to speak with clients in Punjabi or Hindi often removes a barrier that would otherwise keep them from support altogether. Ultimately, I see my role as bridging the gap between people who are hardest to reach and the services that could help them — staying consistent, non-judgemental, and present, even when progress is slow.Outline of offer
I offer trauma-informed addiction support alongside practical outreach support, primarily for people experiencing homelessness and substance dependency. This includes one-to-one support, harm reduction support (including Naloxone administration where needed), and crisis intervention using ASIST and MHFA training. I work alongside referral pathways into structured treatment and recovery services and support clients in navigating access to GPs, housing, and other essential services. Where language is a barrier, I offer support in Punjabi and Hindi.
Experience
I am a Senior Member of the ACCPH and a Professional Associate of the Institute of Counselling (Scotland). In 2020 I founded the London Homeless Welfare Team (LHWT), a Community Interest Company supporting an average of 100 people a week experiencing homelessness, many with co-occurring substance dependency and mental health needs. Through this work I have developed extensive frontline experience in addiction outreach, crisis response, and harm reduction, holding Naloxone, MHFA, and ASIST training. I work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector services on referral pathways for clients affected by addiction. The main objective of the Practitioner Directory is to protect the public and help them find practitioners they can trust.
