Stigma by association is the overlooked challenge facing the workforce - it's time to have your say urges Professor Harry Sumnall

Stigma towards people who are affected by alcohol and other drugs, and the harm it causes, is among the best evidenced in health research. Researchers have also explored stigma by association, where that stigma extends to families, carers and loved ones. But far less is known about how it also reaches people who work or volunteer in treatment, recovery and harm reduction services. 

To begin to fill the evidence gap, The Liverpool John Moores University has launched a new UK study of stigma by association in the alcohol and other drug workforce.
